Wes Anderson's first feature film, Bottle Rocket, was released in 1996 and featured the talents of Luke Wilson and Owen Wilson. Although it did not do well at the box office, Bottle Rocket gained Anderson the attention of director Martin Scorcese, which set him up for future success. As he continued to release films, he developed a distinct style of comedy, characterized by deadpan delivery and quick, witty dialogue, as well as a "quirky" visual style.
